Wives and Porcupines
We are all amused at how children interpret some of the more familiar stories of the Bible and their theological perspectives.  Consider these gems!  Lot’s wife was a pillar of salt by day and a ball of fire by night. Samson slew the Philistines with the axe of the Apostles.  Moses went to the top of Mt. Cyanide to get the ten commandments.  Perhaps, these innocent five-year old expressions will further clarify some of the ancient stories that we adults have misunderstood!  At least from a child’s point of view.  Solomon has 300 wives and 700 porcupines.  Jesus was born because Mary had an immaculate contraption.  One of the opossums was St. Matthew and a Godly person should have only one wife.  This is called monotony.Of course, we snicker at a child’s misunderstanding and misinterpretation of the scripture and Biblical accounts as they retell what they think they heard.  But, it’s still amazing how many adults still think Noah’s wife was Joan of Ark.  Let me dust off that book of ancient mysteries and spiritual truths and read it again.  The Bible is not just a book of drama but it is a page turner filled with the stories of many who lived life on the edge.  Some found salvation while others discovered the pit!
